Speech Therapy

What is Speech Therapy?

Pediatric Speech Therapy is a clinical service provided to children who have deficits in the areas of communication, oral motor, feeding/swallowing, or hearing. The Speech Language Pathologist works closely with the child and his or her parents to achieve their optimal potential so that they can participate more fully in daily living activities, community settings, and family interactions.

What are the benefits?

Improvements in a variety of functional areas including, but not limited to:

  • articulation
  • cognition
  • language
  • voice pitch, rate, and volume
  • augmentative communication
  • functional communication
  • auditory processing

Who can participate?

Individuals from infant through age 21 with a physician’s prescription who have been evaluated by a McKenna Farms speech-language pathologist and determined eligible for Speech Therapy services. We provide services for a variety of diagnoses including, but not limited to:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Spinal Bifida
  • Down syndrome
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Stroke
  • Autism
  • Developmental Delay
  • Sensory Integration Dysfunction
  • Learning and Language disabilities
